Houseless in Duluth...

Unfortunately we're back to square one... We had all our ducks in a row and did our research ahead of time, but along the way it seemed the builder was getting more and more difficult to work with. Like you'd think they would be aiming to please~ but once we put in our offer, they really made it clear they weren't gonna be easy to work worth, and they had no interest in negotiations. This were all hunkie Dorrie at first~ of course. But after we made the offer things just became more evident...it slipped out that oh, wait we don't have the building permit yet (they told us they did and a mid Oct finish date was the goal), this step alone could take months!! So what initially sounded like a go ahead, turned into a WHOA, we don't trust the disorganization and don't really want to work with this builder, cuz we really don't want to get screwed mid way through this deal. So we got out and now we're moving on. This kinda thing is exactly why I never wanted to consider building in the first place!!
Quite disheartening yes, as I was really excited to have a home mapped out in my mind, and a place that we could call home. I hate house hunting in Duluth... its all crap! YES CRAP!! There's no happy medium, or even so so's that could be upgraded into a decent residence. I'm grumpy and crabby and so tired of wasting Sunday's dragging the kids around to open houses. What made it even worse was seeing homes in the Fargo Forum last weekend at my parents that were easily in our price range and absolutely gorgeous... Homes are expensive here, and you don't get much yard for your buck either...too many damn trees. I'm throwin' in the towel and hibernating for the winter...maybe I'll be up for house hunting in the spring.
